Vinay Chaudhry, MD, MBA, FAAN, FRCP (UK)


Dr. Vinay Chaudhry has been selected as the recipient of the 2025 Kapil Sethi, MD, FRCP Teaching Award for his exceptional and far-reaching contributions to the education of neurologists, particularly in Neuromuscular and Electrodiagnostic Medicine. With nearly 40 years of experience in academic medicine, Dr. Chaudhry has played pivotal roles at Johns Hopkins, including Director of the Medical Student Neurology Clerkship, and Director of both the ACGME-certified Neurophysiology and Neuromuscular Medicine Fellowships. His leadership was key in establishing the Neuromuscular Medicine Subspecialty, securing ACGME accreditation and ABPN certification, and laying the foundation for formal training in this area across the U.S. Dr. Chaudhry’s mentorship has shaped the careers of countless leaders in academia, research, and clinical practice, extending his influence nationally and internationally. 


Dr. Chaudhry is renowned for his hands-on approach to teaching, blending formal didactics with clinical apprenticeships in the clinic and EMG lab. His weekly CME-accredited case conferences, his availability for real-time discussions of clinical findings, and his involvement in webinars for underserved regions have made him a highly sought-after mentor. He has been honored with multiple teaching awards, including the Hopkins Neurology Residents Annual Teaching Award. Beyond education, Dr. Chaudhry has served in key leadership roles, including Vice Chair of Clinical Affairs at Johns Hopkins and as a member of the boards of the AAN and AANEM. His legacy as both an educator and a leader in Neurology makes him a truly deserving recipient of this prestigious award.
